…On Poetry and Fiction – Just “One Word” Away (God)

One word becomes one idea, becomes one sentence, becomes one poem, becomes one story. It must start from just “one word”. Today my one word is “God”.

                                                           *********************

If he comes to you in a dream, will you recognize him? He may not speak to you in words you are familiar with, and you may not hear him utter a single word. However, you will hear him through your eyes and feel him through your heart; and know that upon awakening the next day, you will have been richly blessed. Through the most magical visions and the most vibrant images…through his divine light and strong spirit…you will have found your answers to life’s many abstract questions.

                                                                            GOD

He came to me in a dream,
and showed me fragments of my life
From birth to adulthood
I remained in awe on this glorious night
…He never spoke a word to me
But I listened with my eyes
For my ears could not hear a sound
yet my heart doubled in size

We had a conversation on favor and might
through wordless beauty, to my delight
Just sensations and huge questions
     Emotions with valued answers
Impressions with rich visions
     Lessons with clear images

He was not at all human
Yet he was handsome and kind
I never saw his face
But I studied his soul with my fingers
          as if I was blind

He taught me about life
     He taught me about death
He taught me about compassion
     I learned about love,
     I learned about hate
He conveyed to me
that it was never too late

I felt the pain of loneliness
     and the madness of anger
…the twinge of sorrow
Yet still - the joys of tomorrow

He guided me to green pastures,
     and an angels’ choir
And there I sat amongst the company of loved ones
    - My heart was full; it was set on fire

It was magical, it was heavenly
as I reunited with those I had lost
We talked, we smiled – but at what cost?
This was a short-lived blessing
of what may come to be
Yet I had to leave, but now I see

For then I awakened; I was a bit sad…
     but through a renewed understanding
          I was bitter-sweetly glad

Now I had some answers
     to the most abstract questions
I learned immeasurable lessons
     from the greatest preacher;
the most powerful, surreal, omnipotent teacher
Yes! God had visited me through a dream
He touched my soul with his spiritual gleam

…He spoke in ways no human could
…He spoke in ways I knew he would

Yes it was him! I recognized his way
-His divine light had blessed my day
-His kind spirit opened my eyes
-His truth be told from “the one” so Wise…

("LIVES UNBALANCED") by Phyllis P. Colucci aka FictionTarot

This novel is a work of fiction that tells the story of a young woman who survives life, and finds strength in the most endearing yet unconventional ways.
Susan was an introvert, who lost her parents at a young age. Her brother Marty was the only family she had left.  Marty was married and lived in Florida with his wife Sara and daughter Lisa, while Susan continued to live up North, in Brooklyn, New York. When word from Florida about Marty’s sudden death reached Susan, her world came crumbling down.
Susan’s loneliness and inability to make friends, and enter into relationships, easily made for a very difficult and personal struggle for her; until she met Jim. Jim became the love of her life.  However, danger and madness soon found its way into Susan and Jim’s lives through the wrath of the deranged Joe. It was now up to Susan to protect Jim, herself, her sister-in-law Sara and her niece Lisa. It was now up to Susan to also find a way to avenge her brother Marty’s death.
Susan’s abnormal and dysfunctional connection to her beloved ragdoll “Ramona” became her only salvation. As bizarre as it seemed, Ramona became Susan’s closest friend and trusted confidant over the years; to whom she relied upon for advice and guidance. Together they found companionship, and a special bond, that would keep them connected in a way that protected and saved Susan from the harsh realities of life and the dangers as well. What may have seemed like insanity to some, Susan’s relationship with Ramona proved to be the opposite. As we all find ways to survive life and loneliness, Susan found Ramona.

A NOTE TO READERS FROM THE AUTHOR:
AN AMAZON RATING AND REVIEW WOULD BE VERY MUCH APPRECIATED, ONCE YOU HAVE READ THE BOOK.

MEET RAMONA

...on Poetry and Fiction - Just "One Word" Away (Fantasy)

One word becomes one idea, becomes one sentence, becomes one poem, becomes one story. It must start from just “one word”. Today my one word is “Fantasy”.

                                                                    FANTASY

“Fantasy” accompanies me on many of life’s journeys. She is my very best friend and trusted companion. She never allows me to walk alone. We share experiences that are only possible through dreams. We find our own utopia through images and hallucinations, which we design through emotion and heart - and we contemplate on what could be.

We’ve seen the greatest love stories past the shadows of reality. We lived those love stories in a world of imagination. We felt those love stories through our flesh and blood; then we shared the most intimate secrets of those experiences. We’ve listened to the most beautiful melodies from voices of angels. We sang along, and swayed from side to side amongst the choir of the Gods. We flew through the heavens past cotton-ball clouds and landed safely on illuminated rainbows. There we sat for hours, just two close friends – chatting, giggling and sometimes crying about the chaotic world below us. The world we call home. The world we will return to, once again.

I do cherish spending time and special moments with “Fantasy”, and she loves spending time and special moments with me. Ours is a relationship of unconditional loyalty; one of hope, honesty, peace, joy, comfort, love, respect, and deep desire. There is never any judgement or criticism between us - just warm smiles and total acceptance. I met “Fantasy” one magical day, when I stared into my mirror looking for answers. She stared back at me. I was mesmerized. We looked so much alike. Once our eyes locked, the wondrous journeys began.

FANTASY

When you’re searching for answers
Look no further than the mirror in your room
“Fantasy” will greet you there
A magical friendship will be in bloom

Your destination - “Utopia”
Emotions running high
Images are boundless
Where logic can’t deny

Past the shadows of reality
You will find your greatest loves
You will hear the voices of the angels
Echoed by gentle turtle doves

You will join the choir of the mighty Gods
Singing melodies in perfect tune
Shouting rhythmic notes of triumph
To the sky, the stars, the moon

You will travel through the heavens
Ducking past cotton clouds of fluff
Sitting on illuminated rainbows
Chatting and giggling about life and stuff

Just you and “Fantasy” arm in arm
A friendship so pure and good
Shared secrets, cherished moments
A loyal bond – Existing as it should

Tears of love, tears of sadness
Journeying home through shadows of reality
Back home to the mirror in your room
To the place you will return quite soon
Where “Fantasy” resides…as she waits for you
Until you meet again, as close friends do!

...on Poetry and Fiction – Just “One Word” Away (Diamonds)

One word becomes one idea, becomes one sentence, becomes one poem, becomes one story. It must start from just “one word”. Today my one word is “Diamonds”.

                                                                    DIAMONDS

People are like diamonds; eventually all cut to perfection. Some shine brilliantly, others glow softly. We come in various shapes, sizes and colors - all worth our weight in precious gems and gold. We are so individually intricate and unique in every way. Some of us are nearly perfect, some mediocre, while others still a work in progress. It is true we may be measured by our beauty, yet we are each adored greatly as one of the many jewels in the world’s multifaceted population. Once we take our rightful place in society, we then strive to become that perfectly-graded Diamond.

  DIAMONDS

Cut, clarity, color and carat
Multifaceted
Light of the Gods
Naturally Brilliant
Reflective of excellence
Sparkling glory
Blue or icy white
Matchless rarity
Worth its weight in treasure
A rare Gem of nature
Or a Diamond in the rough
Like the peoples of the world
Each cut to its worth
Poor, Middle or Rich Class
Simply measured by quantity
Greatly cherished by quality

...on Poetry and Fiction – Just “One Word” Away (Puppeteer)

One word becomes one idea, becomes one sentence, becomes one poem, becomes one story. It must start from just “one word”. Today my one word is “Puppeteer”.

...He is wise, he is cunning and he is always in control. He gives and takes life by one yank of a string. He allows you to speak, to smile, to move, to dance, to sit and to be. Are you thankful for this master of your existence? Do you await his grand entrance, anticipating his great power over you? Or while at rest, do you remain unaware of your surroundings? Unaware of him? Unaware of your idle state; existing in a world of eternal sleep until he pulls your tangled strings?  Yes - there you rest upon a dusty old shelf, in a vegetative realm, lifeless and cold – until he reappears…and he does! The “Puppeteer” is back!

                                                                    PUPPETEER

A master of deception
Wise and cunning in his actions
Powerful, charming, vulgar and snide
An intriguing smile and a confident strut
In control of all he touches
He makes his grand entrance
Extravagantly dressed to perfection
Ready to give life and take life effortlessly

With one yank of a string
He brings you to your feet
As you move wildly in his world of insanity
You speak loudly, you smile gaily
You move gracefully and you dance madly
Then he sets you down to rest
And there you sleep like the dead

Your strings all tangled
You collect dust on a shelf
So lifeless and cold, so still and alone
As he callously leaves you in dark shadows
Until he reappears at will
To raise you from the dead once again!

…Suddenly the room awakens
to his dreadful chilling essence
Preparing for the magic to begin
The walls breathe fiercely
The ceiling vibrates frantically
The rich soft rug welcomes his footsteps
He enters with silent charm
His ego ignites the room
The macabre acts are about to begin
Yes – he is here! The Puppeteer is back!

COVID-19 PANDEMIC (War on the World)

http://spillwords.com/author/phyllispcolucci/

You came like a thief in the night without warning.  You came alive in the City of Wuhan, China - then spread your kiss of death to South Korea, Iran, Italy. Your wrath was felt in all of Europe and the entire world. We despise you for your evil ways and your path of destruction. You have left lifeless bodies in caskets lined up like brave soldiers; too many to bury. So many tears have been shed and broken hearts left behind as you continue to fight with no remorse, yet tread with quite a huge smile. You are a murderous villain COVID-19, who has started this war on humanity for reasons unknown.

When you reached America we felt your rage, and soon learned “There was nowhere to run and nowhere to hide”. We now stopped living in our world as we knew it. We are prisoners of our own homes; sad, lonely and unemployed. Some need to quarantine in isolation as more have lost their lives. Our law enforcement, healthcare workers and first responders, who work so bravely and so tirelessly to save lives, are battling with death as they continue to lose patients on a daily basis. Our Military/National Guard have been called in to assist in setting up temporary hospitals in order to accommodate the many people who have contracted YOU! YOU – the relentless, ruthless COVID-19! Our President, Vice President, White House Health Team, our Governors, Mayors and so many others in this fight, have stepped up to the plate on a daily basis in order to inform a frightened America of the continued struggle and continued progress in this “War on the World”. A Navy hospital ship, called “The Comfort”, has been deployed to New York harbor to aid in the coronavirus crisis.  It will serve as a floating hospital to add capacity. Another Navy hospital ship, called “The Mercy”, will be deployed to the West Coast. America is grateful to all these selfless, compassionate, determined, and amazing people, who are doing great things and who have teamed up to fight you to the death COVID-19! So beware! They are coming for you!

As we wait for your demise you wicked COVID-19, we are being forced to practice “social distancing” in hopes of keeping you away. We cannot get too close to friends and family for fear that you will come between us. Food and personal necessities are scarce, as barren shelves in supermarkets and various stores have now become a common thing. We humans have become scavengers hunting for food, toiletries and paper goods. We now realize we are all animals at heart, and it is all about survival.

You have turned my hometown of Brooklyn, New York and our entire New York City into an unrecognizable place. What was once a vibrant, bustling “City that Never Sleeps”, has suddenly gone dormant – lights out, lost in darkness and morphed into an eerie “Ghost Town”. Schools and non-essential businesses are shut down…and we are all on “lockdown”. Pharmacies, Hospitals, Urgent Care Centers, Doctors Offices, Banks, Supermarkets and Convenience Stores are accessible; and although restaurants and bars are closed, “take-out” is available at some establishments. Thank God for that, and a special “shout-out” to all those courageous people who are coming out to provide these services.  Sadly, our economy is hurting and our streets remain empty with only echoes of a past life that we pray will re-emerge once again.

Everyday there is a news conference giving us the numbers - More infections, more deaths, more spread…We are living our reality in a science-fiction movie, where we are the prey and “Coronavirus” is the predator. Yes – “There is nowhere to run and nowhere to hide!” May God have mercy on our World and may you, COVID-19/Coronavirus, soon be eradicated forever!

...on Poetry and Fiction – Just “One Word” Away (Time)

One word becomes one idea, becomes one sentence, becomes one poem, becomes one story. It must start from just “one word”. Today my one word is “Time”.

                                                                    TIME

Time is something we do not have enough of, or we have too much of. Time passes by quickly, or much too slowly. We find ourselves chasing after it just to catch up, or sitting by idly waiting for it to catch up to us. Time is with us every second, every minute and every hour;  from morning until night - even while we dream. It is up to us to utilize time wisely so that we are in sync with life, never missing a moment of happiness or even a moment of grief. We must experience all of life’s pleasures, treasures and perils in order to move forward with time. We never want to be left behind, or too far ahead of time. We must walk through life with time always by our side. Through good times and in bad, time will be there. That is called life and living. The alternative would be death and dying -  the moment when time stops. So keep living, because one day time will no longer be by your side.

                                                                        TIME

Not enough time, too much time
Unaware of its subtle flow
Life happening fast and furious
Or perhaps just way too slow

Out of breath chasing after it
Sitting idly by just waiting for it
Minutes, hours ticking away
Whether at work, whether at play

From early light to darkest night
Watching over us with timeless might
Leading us through dreams
and nightmares
Teasing us with its rhythmic stares

It waits for us, we wait for it
It is our friend, it is our foe
We must embrace it, for it will come and go
…You’ll be left behind while time rushes past us
Or you’ll sit in wait as time moves at a snail’s pace

Good times passing, bad times lingering
So much time, so out of control
We must walk through life with time at our side
Moving narrowly or full and wide

We must travel always hand in hand
Each moment like a grain of sand
The hour glass, our life’s link
Our footsteps always move in sync

We must live each moment
As if it were our last
We must love and protect time
As it moves into our past
We must guard it and admire it
Like a work of art
And be most grateful for the memories
- until death do us part...
