…On Poetry and Fiction – Just “One Word” Away (God)

One word becomes one idea, becomes one sentence, becomes one poem, becomes one story. It must start from just “one word”. Today my one word is “God”.

                                                           *********************

If he comes to you in a dream, will you recognize him? He may not speak to you in words you are familiar with, and you may not hear him utter a single word. However, you will hear him through your eyes and feel him through your heart; and know that upon awakening the next day, you will have been richly blessed. Through the most magical visions and the most vibrant images…through his divine light and strong spirit…you will have found your answers to life’s many abstract questions.

                                                                            GOD

He came to me in a dream,
and showed me fragments of my life
From birth to adulthood
I remained in awe on this glorious night
…He never spoke a word to me
But I listened with my eyes
For my ears could not hear a sound
yet my heart doubled in size

We had a conversation on favor and might
through wordless beauty, to my delight
Just sensations and huge questions
     Emotions with valued answers
Impressions with rich visions
     Lessons with clear images

He was not at all human
Yet he was handsome and kind
I never saw his face
But I studied his soul with my fingers
          as if I was blind

He taught me about life
     He taught me about death
He taught me about compassion
     I learned about love,
     I learned about hate
He conveyed to me
that it was never too late

I felt the pain of loneliness
     and the madness of anger
…the twinge of sorrow
Yet still - the joys of tomorrow

He guided me to green pastures,
     and an angels’ choir
And there I sat amongst the company of loved ones
    - My heart was full; it was set on fire

It was magical, it was heavenly
as I reunited with those I had lost
We talked, we smiled – but at what cost?
This was a short-lived blessing
of what may come to be
Yet I had to leave, but now I see

For then I awakened; I was a bit sad…
     but through a renewed understanding
          I was bitter-sweetly glad

Now I had some answers
     to the most abstract questions
I learned immeasurable lessons
     from the greatest preacher;
the most powerful, surreal, omnipotent teacher
Yes! God had visited me through a dream
He touched my soul with his spiritual gleam

…He spoke in ways no human could
…He spoke in ways I knew he would

Yes it was him! I recognized his way
-His divine light had blessed my day
-His kind spirit opened my eyes
-His truth be told from “the one” so Wise…
