One word becomes one idea, becomes one sentence, becomes one poem, becomes one story. It must start from just “one word”. Today my one word is “Pendulum”.

The Pendulum…It charts our course as we go through life; and it marks each second, minute, hour, day, week, month, year – from childhood to golden days. We have no choice but to follow its rhythm until "OUR" very last dance.

Pendulum

The Pendulum !

It swings back and forth

Our eyes follow it in trance-like stare

Hypnotized by the passing of time

Mesmerized by the secrets of the past

We can hear it speak

A syncopated rhythm

Familiar to our ears

We listen as it guides our stay

We listen as it leads the way

Never stopping, just swaying on

to an infinite beat of Past, Present and Future

It ticks by day

It ticks by night

It wakens us to morning light

It whispers a nocturnal lullaby

As we fall to slumber with little a fight

It welcomes all and plans their time

through careful steps and measured climb

The Pendulum !

With its sounds of glory

It creates and controls the human story

It lives on and on for days to come

It allows the passage of days that have gone

We revel in its pomp and circumstance

and leave its course to chance

The Pendulum !

It swings back and forth

Until our very last dance…

What is a Kaleidoscope?

So what is a Kaleidoscope? It's a device we look through that reflects light, images, colors and geometric patterns through a viewer. It dances in and out and all about as we yearn for more...As a child, I remember looking through a cardboard tube, and turning the end of it to watch the magic happen before my eyes. These were inexpensive and sold in toy stores, the old "five and ten" stores like "Woolworths", and many other local mom and pop shops. They may have been inexpensive and made of cardboard at the time, but they were priceless in the joy they brought to both children and adults alike.

As a writer, I can say that a "Kaleidoscope of Words" can bring the same joy to those who love to read. A Kaleidoscope of words is magic through imagery. Colorful words, patterns and ideas all come together to form great stories. This type of Kaleidoscope can take you on journeys to other worlds; word by word, story by story. In all of its wonderment, the "Kaleidoscope of Words" can be viewed by turning a page in a book as opposed to turning the end of a cardboard tube. Not to say one is better than the other, because both offer a magic of their own. It is your choice to make as to which Kaleidoscope you prefer to view at the moment. Both will bring you that special joy where you will experience a strong desire to come back for more.
