Poetry and Fiction – Just “One Word” Away (Window)
One word becomes one idea, becomes one sentence, becomes one
poem, becomes one story. It must start from just “one word”. Today my one word
is “Window”.
WINDOW
A Window is a portal to the
outside world. It allows us to view the world and admire its treasures through its
magical “looking glass”. An Open Window invites the outside world into our
homes and into our lives. A Closed Window allows us to watch privately, with
caution, until we are ready to say “come in”. To some, a Window is a connection
to something or someone when we are lonely or curious. To others, it is an
invasion of privacy. To most of us, it is a chance to see what’s happening
beyond our four walls. In life, it is a choice. So whether you choose to live
with an “open” window, or you prefer a “closed” window, you will only be able
to enjoy the results of that choice.
Either way, a window will always be that portal to a world outside of
ourselves. When it is open, it will be your own personal give and take reality.
When it is closed, it will still be special through its magical looking glass.
However, an open window will allow us to connect, relate and interact on an
emotional level while a closed window will limit us to a simple view from the
sidelines. Which will you choose?
WINDOW
Window! Window!
From my home
A portal to the
outside unknown
Such jewels,
past my looking glass
A regal view, a
touch of class
Shall I open you
wide and clear?
Or keep you
closed
And hide my fear?
Window! Window!
Hear my voice
Open…Close…is
quite a choice
I want to shout
that I am here
I want to invite
those far and near
Window! Window!
Let life in
It’s give and
take – a perfect win
I see love, I
feel it too
I hear sweet
voices
Between me and
you
I can feel the
sun and touch the breeze
Sweet summer
bliss
Deep Winter’s
freeze
The good, the
bad and all that’s fair
Relationships -
if you dare
Window! Window!
Let me see
Shall I hide my
eyes or let things be?
If you remain
closed
Will I remain
free?
Window! Window!
I’ve changed my
mind
Please open wide
If you’d be so
kind
Emotions,
passion are what I crave
From the day of
birth
To the day of
grave
Window! Window!
Closed no more
Great gifts of
plenty
…treasures galore!
